Who we are
Main Character is an iPhone app and the website maincharacterstories.app, operated by El Sueno LLC ("we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it for us, and how you delete it. For questions or requests, use the support option in the app.
What we collect
- Account: your Sign in with Apple identifier, display name and settings such as your time zone and episode schedule.
- Selfies: three photos taken in the app's camera during setup, with the result of a liveness check.
- Your likeness: the portrait and reference pictures generated from your selfies, likeness scores comparing new pictures with your portrait, and your height and build taps.
- Your story: your taps about your world, your love interest, heat level and hooks; the scripts, pictures, clips and episodes made for you.
- Purchases: plan status, a record of credits granted and spent, and payment references. Card details are handled by our payment providers, never by us.
- Usage: which screens you open and which buttons you press, to find confusing steps. Never the content of your story.
Your selfies and likeness
Your face is sensitive data, and we treat it that way. We use your selfies only to make and approve your portrait. Within one hour of you approving your portrait, we delete the selfies, both the files and the records that point to them. If you never approve a portrait, you can delete the unfinished setup at any time.
Your portrait and reference pictures are used only to make your own episodes and to check that new pictures still look like you. They are never shown to other readers, never used in anyone else's story, never used by us to train AI models, and never sold.
Love interests are invented from taps. Do not try to make one resemble a real person, and do not submit anyone else's face or the face of a minor.
Who processes your data for us
We use these providers to run the service. Each receives only what its job needs and may process it outside your country.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in, database and private file storage | All account and story data, stored privately |
| Render | Runs the servers that make episodes | The inputs and outputs of each render while it runs |
| fal.ai and the image and video models it hosts | Draws portraits, pictures and video clips | Your selfies or portrait and the shot description for each render |
| DeepSeek | Writes episode scripts and checks that new pictures look like your portrait | Your story taps, and face crops from your portrait and each new picture |
| ElevenLabs | Voices for characters | Script lines to be spoken |
| Stripe and Apple | Payments and subscriptions | Purchase details and payment references |
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website | Standard web request data |
How your data is protected
Your files live in private storage under your account. Database rules return your rows only to you, and signed-out requests get nothing. Videos play through links that expire after one hour; anyone holding a live link can use it until then, so don't share it. Our servers use separate, privileged credentials to make and deliver episodes. No online system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you as required by law if your data is affected by a breach.
How long we keep it
- Selfies: deleted within one hour of portrait approval.
- Portrait, love interests, scripts and episodes: until you delete them or your account.
- Purchase and credit records: as long as tax, accounting and fraud rules require, even after account deletion.
- Backups: encrypted, and expire on their own schedule.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your portrait, a serial or your whole account in the app. Account deletion removes your portrait, love interests, story and episodes. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it where you bought it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, copy or restrict your data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent for likeness processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. We will verify that a request comes from the account owner before acting on it.
Age
Main Character is for adults. Every character shown on screen reads as 25 or older.
Changes
When our practices change, we update this page and its effective date, and we tell you in the app before material changes to how we process your likeness take effect.
